Xiaomi 10,400 mAh Power Bank - Hands-on review

For a while now, I was on the lookout for a decent power bank/portable charger for my devices. A few days ago, I ordered the Samsung 9000mah power bank, however it turned out to be a fake product that the seller sent out to me. Thankfully, I was able to return it for a full refund. While browsing one day, I came across an e-commerce website selling original Xiaomi 10,400mAh power banks at the official price of Rs.999. I immediately placed an order and received the product in the next few days.

The Xiaomi Power Bank comes in a tiny, neat white package with Mi branding in the front. On the sides you get product information detailing the Model number, Rated capacity, Input/Output voltage etc.

Contents of the box:
  1. A 10,400 mah Power Bank
  2. A User Guide
  3. A micro-USB to USB cable.

Upon opening the box, the first thing you get is a silver coloured aluminium finish power bank. Although, this device comes in 7 different colours in other countries, it is so far only available in silver in India. After removing the protective sticker from the side, the controls/ports are revealed.

We get:
  • A Power ON/Reset switch.
  • 4 LED Battery indicator lights.
  • A micro-USB port for charging the power bank.
  • A USB port to be used to charge other devices.

The premium look and the feel of the device is extremely eye catching. Xiaomi has based most of its products on Apple in terms of looks and this power bank is no different. The device feels a bit on the heavier side at 250 grams.

At 10,400 mAh rated capacity, this device is one of the most useful devices for me. One of the top reasons for me to buy this device was its output power rate. This power bank supplies power at the rate of 2.1a which means it will charge your Moto G at double the rate of its normal wall charger. What this also means is that this power bank will charge almost any smartphone, tablet and other USB chargeable device out there.

I've personally tried this power bank to charge the following devices and it worked flawlessly on all of them.

Smartphones:
  • Moto G
  • Nexus 5
  • Xiaomi Mi3
  • Xiaomi Redmi 1S
  • Gionee Elife S5.5
  • Apple iPhone 5
  • Samsung Galaxy SL i9003
Tablets:
  • Apple iPad 4
  • Nexus 7 (2012)
Camera:
  • Sony WX-50

The Xiaomi Power Bank has four (4) 2600mAh lithium-ion batteries on the inside that are connected to a board to receive/supply power at safe levels. It also has an input/output overvoltage protection system which protects this power bank and your devices from getting over heated due to irregular power supply and short circuit.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend all of you to go ahead and buy this product if you need a power bank for yourself.
