How to connect Xiaomi Redmi Note with an external USB drive

Xiaomi Redmi Note was recently launched in India and we got our hands on it a few days in advance. We unboxed it and made a hands-on review video for this device on our YouTube channel. In this article, I'm going to show you how easy it is to connect it to an external USB flash drive or a pen drive.

To be able to connect the Xiaomi Redmi Note to an external flash drive, all you need to do is to connect it to the flash drive using an OTG cable or OTG adapter. Immediately, upon a successful connection, you would get a notification on the Redmi Note stating "Preparing SD card". This notification would then go away without any other indication.

To be able to access the files on the flash drive, you would need to open the 'Explorer' app on the Redmi Note and use this app to browse through various files on the pen drive. You can also have a look at all the files on the flash drive in a list view by clicking the tab that says "List View".

We tested video and audio samples and there was no loss of quality. Documents and Photographs immediately opened without any delay and there was no loss of data. You can also edit the files using various apps on the Redmi Note and save them directly onto the flash drive.
