Easiest way to fix Status 7 error on Android

While installing a custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy mobile phone, I often come across the status 7 error message. This is the easiest way to go around this error and continue installing the firmware that you want to on your Android device.

Status 7 errors are caused when the ROM's updater script file checks to see if the phone model of your phone is compatible for the ROM you are installing. These Asserts are a safety mechanism so you don't accidentally install another phone model's ROM on your phone.  E.g. Installing a Galaxy S3 ROM on a Galaxy S4 and ending up hard-bricking your phone.

Now, this safety mechanism is great but there are times where even if you have the correct ROM for your phone, you will get Status 7 error. This happens when the developer is working on this ROM for another phone model as well and he may forget to change the script while releasing it for a particular device.

How to continue installation inspite of getting a Status 7 error message:
  1. While in the Recovery Mode, select and enable the "Toggle Signature Verification" option and make sure it says Enabled.
  2. Select Install Zip from SD card
  3. It'll now ask you whether you'd like to go ahead with the installation of this untrusted zip file. Hit Yes.
  4. Thats it! You would now be able to install your favorite ROM/firmware on your Android device.

I've tried this workaround myself and have successfully been able to install the desired ROM around 80% of the time. However, in some cases I've noticed even this option does not work. I hope this video will help you install your favorite ROMs without worrying about any errors, please let me know in the comments section below if it worked out for you.

Please note that rooting/installing a custom rom can void your warranty and can also damage your device if not done properly, please do it at your own risk.
